こんにちは、副幹事長の吉川　遥です。久米ゼミに興味を持ってくださりありがとうございます！私の考える当ゼミの魅力をお伝えしたいと思います。

久米ゼミの特長は、研究するための土台が築けるということだと思います。私は１、２年の時、研究したいことが明確に定まっていませんでした。授業もサークルもバイトもそれなりに手を抜いてぼーっと過ごしていたら、ゼミ選考の時がやってきてしまったわけです。「私はやりたいことが決まってない！どうしよう！！」焦り始めたときに目に入ったのが、久米ゼミのテーマ「分析の技法」です。どんな研究も、その方法を誤ってしまえば説得力を持ちません。自分の研究したいことが決まった時に納得いく論文が書けるように、研究方法をしっかり身につけよう。そう思い、久米ゼミを選びました。４月から実際にゼミで勉強を始め、最近では未熟ながらも研究方法が頭に入ってきたと実感しています。

また、プレゼンテーションをする機会が多いのも魅力の１つです。私は人前で話すのが苦手で、プレゼンなんてもってのほかという感じでしたが、ゼミで回数を重ねることで、学外でも自らプレゼンしてみたいな、と意欲を持つようになりました。

勉強の面だけでなく、いろいろなバックグラウンドを持つ学生が集まっていることも特徴的です。これまでサークルに打ち込んできた人も、国際的に活動してきた人も、そして私のように適当に過ごしてきてしまった人も（笑）、お互いが刺激しあいながら、成長していける、そんな場が久米ゼミだと考えています。

Welcome to Kume Seminar!

In this seminar, you will learn the essence of methodology in social sciences by addressing numerous contemporary issues, as well as some classic wonders in political science.

Why do we vote, although we all know that one vote does not make a difference? Why is there no state of war between two democratic countries? Will China be democratized in days to come? Should the civil service in Japan be more decentralized? Does the current financial crisis foreshadow the limit of capitalism? How do you tackle with these questions? In order to fully express your thought and convince others, knowledge is not enough. It is a method and logical structure that adds credibility to one’s research. In other words, not only ‘what you know’, but also ‘how you know’ from one’s experience and information is a key to achieve validity.

Our seminar will provide you with intellectual stimulation that trains your critical thinking and analytical skill. We strongly believe that methodology, which let us contract a model of observational analysis and at the same time leads to derivation of theories from causality, is a study that enables people to comprehend important factors and phenomena under the superficial appearance of a fact. Hence, what you will obtain in our seminar can be applied to any career as you pursue in the future.

 

Lastly, a seminar is about an interaction among participants, and therefore it is up to each of you to make a fruitful seminar for upcoming two years.

Ask not what your seminar can do for you; ask you what you can do for your seminar.
